From the Beginning and Into the Future
Our Story
The Founding
In 1977 W. Dwight Lowder founded Lowder Electric Company. In the beginning our efforts were primarily focused on the residential and commercial aspects of the electrical contracting business. With projects that included new home electrical installation, apartment complex additions electrical installation, and electrical service and repair work. In 1978, after an honorable discharge from the US Marine Corps, Curtis L. Lowder came on board bringing his experience as an avionics electrician. 1978 was also the year that Lowder Electric Company was incorporated.
In 1980 Lowder Electric Company expanded it's product line and skillset by embarking in our first major heavy industrial project which consisted of a new 110,000sq. foot manufacturing plant for a plastics factory in Shawnee Oklahoma. In the following years we continued to expand our commercial and industrial business lines with the completion of hotel projects, school electrical renovations, major factory expansions, natural gas processing facilities, as well as oil refineries, pipelines, and refined products loading facilities.
Expanding our Scope
Throughout the mid to late 1980's and all throughout the 1990's Lowder Electric remained fully emersed in electrical installation, service, and maintenance of various industrial factory operations such as Allen Bradley, TDK, and Eaton. We greatly expanded our practice into the oil and natural gas industries working with Enerfin Resources Company, Sinclair Oil, and Optimized Process Design on natural gas processing facilities, natural gas compressor stations, crude oil refineries, crude oil and refined products pipeline installations, and refined products loading facilities. We continued to work within the commercial arena with resident housing projects, learning structures, and sports facilities for Oklahoma Baptist University. We also maintained good working relationships with custom home builders and individual property owners facilitating our continued presence in the residential arena.
Automating the Process
In the late 1990s and early 2000s it became clear to us that the future of Industrial manufacturing, processing, and fabrication would be increasingly dependent on automation. As we expanded our product line into industrial automation and intelligent control, we saw the possibilities in both the commercial and residential space as well.
With experience with the top names in the industrial automation industry such as Rockwell, GE Emerson, Foxboro, Schnider Electric, etc. we have strived to stay on top of the latest technology and innovation.
In the realm of residential and commercial automation and intelligent control, we are continuing to stay abreast of the latest industry standard while also working on custom designed systems for customers interested in custom and purpose-built systems. Whether you need a simple system to control you outdoor lighting and watering, or you want a custom-built system for total home and property control, we certainly are capable and enjoy the challenge.
